📈 YTD MARKETS

🤖 AI & VC
AI and machine learning startups received 58% of all global VC investment in Q1, compared to the 28% the sectors took in 2024. What’s more, AI startups got 70% of all North American VC funding, though that number is somewhat skewed by OpenAI’s record $40 billion raise. Many companies under five years old are raising big rounds, as median early-stage round sizes are up significantly year-over-year.
➨ TAKEAWAY: AI has quickly become the dominant sector in venture capital, with the majority of the biggest raises and the most valuable pre-IPO companies. Running and developing AI models takes a lot of capital, and VC firms are expecting a return on that capital, even if some of the companies are years away from revenue. Join us tomorrow at 12 PM ET as we break down the current pre-IPO AI ecosystem, alongside Worth Media and Sacra.

Invest Into Legacy, Cash-Flowing Small Businesses
Boring businesses - we all know them. Think of your local HVAC company, pool cleaner, you get the picture.
While these businesses don't typically grab headlines, they do generate steady, predictable cash flow — making them perfect targets for someone to buy and operate.
That’s where acquisition entrepreneurs known as “Sponsors” come in.
Sponsors do the hard work of finding, negotiating, and preparing to acquire these small (profitable/steady) businesses.
The only thing they need? Capital.
Enter CapitalPad.
With CapitalPad, investors can passively invest in these small business acquisitions.
No need for massive ownership checks or day to day involvement.
CapitalPad connects you with sponsors seeking capital, so you fractionally own a “boring business” — without having to run one.
