📰 NOTABLE NEWS

💰 All-time highs for metals: Over the weekend, gold, silver, and platinum all hit all-time highs before falling back slightly, with silver still up 10% on the week, more than 100% in the past three months and nearly 160% on the year.

🤖 Nvidia buying Groq: The world’s biggest company is spending $20 billion on AI chip startup Groq’s assets, in a deal framed as a non-exclusive licensing agreement which will leave Groq as an independent company. Groq was last valued at $6.9 billion only three months ago.

🐉 $5 million Pokemon card: A rare Pikachu Illustrator card purchased by influencer Logan Paul for $5.3 million is going to be auctioned next year and Paul expects it to sell for between $7 million and $12 million.

🏡 Zillow forecast: The real estate company is now forecasting a 1.7% rise in home values in 2026, with existing home sales growing only 0.8%, single-family rents to climb by 1.6%, and multi-family rents to fall by 1%.

🚀 Proptech funding: Global venture investment into real estate property tech startups is up slightly in 2025, though deal count is the lowest on record, and total deal value is still well below the 2019-2022 peak as the formerly hot sector has struggled to garner interest in recent years.

🏢 Biggest office conversion ever: Developers are planning to convert the vacant 24-story office tower 111 Wall Street in Lower Manhattan into more than 1,500 apartments, which would break the record for the largest conversion.

📆 LOOKING FORWARD

Monday: Pending home sales report released.

Tuesday: S&P Case-Shiller home price index and FHFA house price index released.

Wednesday: New Year’s Eve, markets remain open.

Thursday: New Year’s Day, markets are closed.

Friday: Markets reopen.
